
The bihar government has brought a major change in state government holidays for 2024. ram Navami, Shivratri and gandhi Jayanti holidays have been canceled and three days holiday has been announced for Eid and Bakrid. bihar Chief minister Nitish Kumar's government has suddenly brought surprising changes in the state's government holidays. The state has canceled holidays for major Hindu festivals including krishna Janmashtami, Rakshabandhan, Sri ram Navami and Shivratri. Gandhi-Shastri Jayanti holiday has also been cancelled. But it has issued an order giving a holiday for the celebration of Eid and Bakrid for three consecutive days and 2 days for the festival of Muharram. Following this, the bjp is furious that the Nitish government is anti-Hindu. There has been a new change in the calendar of state holidays released by the government on Monday. gandhi and Shastri Jayanti vacation of A.2 has been cancelled. The government has clarified that the decision has been taken with the aim of educating children about the values and personalities of the respective great men.
Apart from this the summer vacation of teachers has also been cut as per the new calendar. According to this, out of the 60 days of leave given to teachers, they have to come to school for 38 days, and only 22 days of leave are given in a year. But no change has been made in the summer vacation offered to students.
Which holidays are cancelled?: Labor Day on 1 May, Jayanti of mahatma gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, ram Navami, Shivaratri, famous local festivals like Tej, Vasant Panchami have been cancelled. The bharatiya janata party (BJP) has started criticizing the Nitish Kumar-led bihar government for allegedly reducing the number of holidays for state schools during Hindu festivals and increasing holidays for Muslim festivals. Calling nitish kumar the head of appeasement politics, Union minister Ashwini Chaubey said the anti-Hindu face of the Grand Alliance has come to the fore again, accusing the bihar government of hating the Sanatan Sansthan for vote bank.
“Once again the anti-Hindu face of the uncle-nephew government has come to the fore. On the one hand, holidays for Muslim festivals are being extended in schools, while holidays for Hindu festivals are being cancelled,” Chaubey wrote in X. He said that the government should be ashamed of hating Sanatana Sansthan for vote bank.
The bihar education Department on monday released the 2024 holiday calendar and said the chart has been drawn up to ensure at least 220 teaching days under the right to education. The 2024 holiday calendar has seen a major change, increasing the number of summer vacation days from 20 to 30. Hartalika Teej and Jitiya holidays have been removed, the education Department has reportedly extended the Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha (Bakreed) holidays by three days each.
Firebrand bjp leader and Union minister Giriraj Singh lashed out at the Nitish Kumar-led government, calling the state the "Islamic Republic of Bihar". "The Nitish and Lalu governments have increased holidays in schools for Muslim festivals and reduced holidays for Hindu festivals," he wrote in X.
