Immediately after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, kashmir - SRINAGAR/JAMMU' target='_blank' title='jammu and kashmir-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>jammu and kashmir on april 22, 2025, india suspended the Indus Water Treaty with Pakistan. After this, the neighboring country got furious and started saying that this is a situation of war and started talking about appealing to the World Bank. The World bank has responded to the matter.

According to news agency Reuters, a World bank spokesperson said that the World bank is a signatory to the treaty for limited defined works and we do not express our opinion on the sovereign decisions related to the treaty taken by the member countries of the treaty.

Now India is not bound to follow the treaty

Since the suspension of this treaty, a question is going on in the minds of the countrymen that how much loss will pakistan suffer due to the suspension of this treaty. What is the meaning of the Indus Water Treaty between the two countries and how much loss will Pakistan have to bear. In this regard, news agency IANS talked to Kushvinder Vohra, former head of Central Water Commission. He said that after the suspension of Indus Water Treaty, we are not bound to share information with the neighboring country Pakistan.

He said that till now we were bound about some things under the Indus Water Treaty, but, first of all, it is also important for us to know which rivers are under this treaty. He said that there are six rivers under this treaty. Ravi, Beas and Sutlej, all their water is for India. Apart from this, most of the water of Indus, Jhelum and Chenab is for Pakistan.

How much loss will pakistan suffer?

He said that this treaty was signed in 1960. In which there were some obligations, but after the suspension of the treaty, there is no obligation now. Now after the suspension, there will be no need to share data. There will be no meeting between the Indo-Pak commissionApart from this, people from pakistan also used to come here to see which projects are going on here, now there will be no need for that either.

He further said that we had to give them information about the projects we made. Pakistan usually used to find faults in our projects as usual, but now there will be no need to give that information. During the monsoon, india will not give any update to Pakistan about the flood situation within the indus river system. I think as long as this Indus Water Treaty remains suspended, pakistan will be in trouble.
