It has been decided to re-enforce the ban on fuel supply to old vehicles in delhi from november 1. Following the increase in air pollution in delhi, a ban was imposed on fuel supply to 10-year-old diesel vehicles and 15-year-old petrol vehicles. The air Quality Management Commission has ordered the seizure of such vehicles. This came into effect on the 1st. Accordingly, pollution Control Board officials, police, and municipal officials gathered at more than 400 petrol pumps across the capital.
The pollution control body had on april 23 announced a ban on the refuelling of overage vehiclespetrol vehicles older than 15 years and diesel vehicles older than 10 years — in delhi from July 1. It had directed authorities to impound the ELVs. Opposition leader Adishi Singh demands a new law for old vehicles. In two days, more than 200 old vehicles were seized. Motorists, political parties, and social organizations strongly opposed this move of the government. Following this, the delhi government announced on the 3rd that this practice would be suspended. In this context, the air Quality Management Commission officials held a meeting in this regard yesterday. Following this, it was decided to re-implement the ban on supplying fuel to old vehicles in the cities of Delhi-NCR, namely delhi, Gurugram, Faridabad, Noida, Ghaziabad, and Sonipat, from november 1.
