Numerous variables, including wars, illegal immigration, religious conversion, and the refugee crisis brought on by various conflicts, are contributing to a significant demographic shift that is occurring globally. The number of countries with a majority of Christians has decreased over the past ten years, according to a recent Pew Research Center survey, and Christians no longer make up the majority in major Western countries like Britain, France, and Australia.

How many Christian-majority countries are there?
Even if the number of countries with a Christian majority population is still the largest, the number of Christian-majority nations has dropped by four between 2010 and 2020, according to the Pew Research survey. According to the report, in 2020, Christians will make up the majority in 120 out of 201 countries and territories, or around 60% of all countries and territories worldwide. According to the report, the figure was 124 in 2010.

Why is christianity declining?
According to the survey, the number of people abandoning christianity in recent years is the main cause of the fall in countries with a majority of Christians. It also notes that many of those who abandon christianity do not identify as atheists or proclaim any other religion.

According to the survey, the biggest shift has been seen in nations like Britain, Australia, France, and uruguay, where the proportion of Christians has fallen below 50% over the last ten years, while the number of atheists, or people who do not identify with any religion, has increased.

Interestingly, 52 percent of Uruguayans do not identify with any religion, although 44 percent of the country's population is Christian. This makes uruguay the only non-Christian majority nation in the Americas.  In 2010, there were only seven nations where the majority of people did not identify with any religion; by 2020, that number had risen to ten.

Although there is no dominant religious organization in France, Britain, or Australia, the survey found that the number of non-religious persons is on par with or higher than the number of Christians.

What about Muslim Countries?
The Pew Research Center survey indicates that the 53 countries with a majority of Muslims have not changed in status; their numbers have not changed since ten years ago.

India and nepal are the only two Hindu countries in the world; the former is home to roughly 95% of the world's Hindu population, which makes up 15% of the total population. Although they are not the majority, Hindus make up the largest religious community in Mauritius.

According to the survey, israel is still the only Jewish country in the world, and there are seven countries that are dominated by Buddhism.
