"Bankruptcy, yes, all the travel expenses were wastedThere was no income, and all my savings were exhausted because of the expenses. I was in debt of Rs 2 crore," he said. He further added, "(Bankruptcy) is a big word, but this feeling stayed with me for a long time. I was not even able to raise money to make ends meet. It was a phase."


Rajesh had decided to quit acting and start farming

In 2019. But things did not go as planned. He wanted to break the myth that farming is only for those who do not have better career options. He said, "Nowadays, no one dreams of becoming a farmer when they grow up." And told how he wants to change people's perspective about farming.


The situation worsened due to the lockdown

Rajesh had just started farming when the situation started deteriorating. First, the weather affected his crops, and then the pandemic made it even worse. Talking to Rajshri Unplugged, he had said, "Financially, I was in a lot of trouble. By the time of the lockdown, I had spent my savings and was bankrupt. I had nothing in my pocket. I had a huge debt, and this was increasing the pressure."


Only Rs 2500 were left in the bank

Rajesh shared a memory from the time when he was shooting for a film called 'Binny and Family'. He said that he had to go to the UK for a 24-day shoot, but he was so short of money that he could not bring anything for his children. In an interview given to Dainik Bhaskar, he said, "When I was in the UK, I had only Rs 2500 in my bank account. During that 24-day shoot, I went to the UK twice, but I could not bring even two chocolates for my children."


Family's full support

Rajesh said that his family stood by him during this difficult time and gave him the strength to move forward. He admitted that he was not able to earn enough to make ends meet, and if his loved ones had not helped him, he might not have been able to overcome this.


A strong comeback with ' Saiyaara'. Now that 'Saiyaara' has become a box office success, Rajesh finally feels like he is back in his place. This film has not only helped him make a comeback on the big screen but also reminded fans of his talent. In this film, he played the role of Anita Padda's father.
