A major terrorist attack took place on
sunday (July 27, 2025) in the Republic of Congo, a country in Central Africa. The Islamic State (ISIS)-backed rebel group Allied Democratic Force (ADF) attacked a Catholic church complex in eastern Congo. At least 21
people have died in this attack. This information has been given by a civil society leader.
According to the civil society leader, the ISIS-backed rebel group Allied Democratic Force (ADF) carried out this attack on the premises of a Catholic church in Komanda, eastern Congo, at around 1 am on Sunday. Many
local houses have also been damaged in this terrorist attack. During the attack, many houses and shops were set on fire.
The Associated
press quoted Komanda's civil society coordinator Dieudonne Duranthabo as saying in its report, "More than 21
people were shot dead inside and outside the church premises in this terrorist attack. We have recovered at least three burnt bodies and many houses have also been burnt. But the investigation is still going on in this matter."

According to the

army spokesman in Komanda, located in the Ituri province of the Republic of Congo, has confirmed the death of 10
people in this terrorist attack. DRC
army spokesman Lieutenant Jules Ngongo said, "According to the information we have received today
sunday (July 27, 2025) morning, some armed men entered a Catholic church in Komanda with machetes (sharp knives). At least 10
people were brutally killed there and some
local shops were set on fire." Dieudonné Duranthabo expressed surprise at the attack
Meanwhile, Komanda's civil society coordinator Dieudonné Duranthabo said, "We are really very disappointed because it is surprising how such an attack can happen in a city where all the top security officials are present. Now the situation is such that some civilians have started fleeing the area and are going towards Bunia."
Duranthabo demanded, "We demand military intervention in this matter as soon as possible, because we have been told that the enemy is still present near our city."
