Rahul gandhi is going to start 'Voter Rights Yatra' in bihar from today (August 17, 2025) against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) being conducted by the election commission, which will start from Sasaram. This journey of rahul gandhi will last for 16 days in Bihar. During this time he will walk 1300 kilometers. Along with congress leaders, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav will also participate in this journey.
Many top leaders of opposition parties, including senior RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, will participate in this journey organized under the banner of india Block. The yatra will end with a massive rally in patna on september 1, which the congress is calling a decisive moment in the fight to protect the soul of indian democracy. In this 16-day long yatra, rahul gandhi will cover 25 districts including Munger, Katihar, Purnia, Supaul, Sitamarhi and Darbhanga.
Rahul Gandhi's journey in bihar will be 1300 KM
During a press conference in Delhi, congress spokesperson Pawan Khera presented the outline of the yatra and said that rahul Gandhi's 'Voter Rights Yatra' will be 1,300 km in bihar, which will pass through important constituencies and will gather public support in those areas where the allegations of deprivation of voting rights are most serious.
Kheda announced that this is not just a yatra. It is a mass movement. The Voter Rights yatra will prove to be a milestone in the history of democracy. He further said that this is a protest against a well-planned conspiracy to suppress the voice of the poor, Dalits, backward, tribals, minorities and marginalized citizens.
Congress attacks election commission over SIR
Congress has been continuously targeting the election commission over SIR and accusing it of colluding with the ruling bjp to manipulate the voter list under the guise of the process. Citing the recent intervention of the supreme Court, Kheda said that it was only after judicial pressure that the election commission agreed to investigate the anomalies raised by the opposition and civil society.
