Gautam Gambhir said that it is not in his hands to take rohit sharma or virat kohli in the team because the team is selected by the selection committee. Gambhir told that as a coach his job is only to prepare the best playing-11 from the squad.
Gambhir said, "This belief that only the coach prepares the team should be abolished. Neither the coach before me used to select the team nor I do so. The selectors would have been able to answer this question in a better way than me."
Team India's blueprint
Gautam Gambhir is going to remain the head coach of Team india for the next 2 years. In such a situation, Gambhir was also asked whether virat kohli and rohit sharma have been given a place in the team that he has prepared in the blueprint or not.
Gambhir replied, "If both of them are able to give their best, then Virat and Rohit should definitely remain a part of Team India. When you start and end your career is your personal decision. No BCCI, coach or selector can tell you when your career should end. No one has forbidden you, if you are fit, then keep playing till the age of 40 and 45."
