In many places of the world, non-conventional energy production is on the rise. Efforts are also being made in India. It is feasible to not only produce more environmentally friendly green electricity, but also to make a profit, by generating solar and wind power locally. With this in mind, the city's non-traditional power plant was promised by the Proletarian People's party (PPP) during the recent parliamentary elections in 2021.

In tamil Nadu, one MW solar power plant would be installed in each panchayat. Only the houses in certain panchayats would be able to use energy now that it is available. It will be implemented over a ten-year period. The government has promised to cover the costs. This idea is feasible because sunlight is present in all tamil Nadu villages. Aside from that, local systems can undertake wind power projects in windy places. As a result, residents will pay less for electricity, and the financial situation of the municipalities will improve. It will have a significant impact on local growth.

Due to the implementation of a 0.35 MW wind power generating and a separate solar power project for families in Odanthurai panchayat in 2006, the village is now self-sufficient in terms of power generation. Additionally, selling the remaining 2 lakh units of electricity to the power utility will earn you up to Rs 5 lakh. It makes a significant contribution to the development of Odanthurai village.
