

Important information has been shared by the Electrical Safety Department, government of Uttar Pradesh regarding the registration of lifts and escalators. Assistant director Saurabh Kumar Singh said that under the Uttar Pradesh Lift and Escalator Act, 2024 and Uttar Pradesh Lift and Escalator Rules, 2024, it has been made mandatory to register all the lifts and escalators installed in the state.
According to the information received, under Section 3 and 4 of the Act, it has been made clear that the owners of lifts and escalators will have to compulsorily register them. However, the online portal developed for lift registration by the Directorate of IT Cell, lucknow has come into working condition only in january 2025. As a result, consumers did not get the opportunity to register earlier.
Compliance to electrical safety standards also ensured
Currently this portal is working smoothly and consumers can easily complete the registration process. Keeping in view the convenience of the consumers, it has been decided by the lucknow Directorate that no late fee will be charged for lift registration until a new order is issued. This decision is being considered an important step towards providing relief to the consumers.
Saurabh Kumar Singh said that if consumers face any kind of technical or other problems during the registration process, they can go to the Assistant Director's office in Zone ghaziabad on any working day and get the problem resolved. This step taken by the government will facilitate lift owners across the state in getting timely registration and will also ensure compliance with electrical safety standards. This Act will prove to be an important initiative towards preventing accidents related to lifts and escalators and ensuring their quality control.
