
Demand to change the names of places has arisen once again in Maharashtra. bjp mla Gopichand Padalkar on saturday (April 26) demanded to change the names of some towns and villages in Sangli district of maharashtra so that the marks of the Mughal era can be erased. Along with this, he appealed to restore the original names of these places.
While talking to the media, bjp mla Gopichand Padalkar said, "I will soon write a letter to chief minister devendra fadnavis and request to change the name of Khanpur city to Bhawanipur. Similarly, the names of sultan Gade village and Umadi village of Jat taluka should also be changed.''
Traces of Mughal era should be erased - Padalkar
Padalkar, who represents the Jat constituency in Sangli, further said, ''Wherever there are traces of Mughal era, those names should be erased and the earlier names should be restored.'' His demand comes in the backdrop of the alleged insult of Nandi's idol in a Mahadev temple in Khanpur.

The mla also alleged that the concept of 'Sarva dharma Sam Bhava' is misleading and imposed on Hindus. He said that 'Sarva dharma Sam Bhava' has been fed to Hindus like a drug pill. Hindus should come out of it. He questioned, ''Why is it that only Hindus are expected to follow it?

On the pahalgam terror attack, Padalkar said, "If Hindus and Muslims really share a brotherly relationship, why were Hindus shot after being asked about their religion? Even after recitation of Islamic verses, some victims were forced to remove their clothes and then shot."
