According to the trailer, the story of Sadak 2 starts with Sanjay Dutt's character losing the reason to live after the death of his beloved (Pooja Bhatt). alia bhatt, who plays arya in the film, had booked a taxi to Mount Kailash from Dutt's agency. While initially, he denies her to take her to her destination, he eventually agrees. arya comes like a breath of fresh air in his life. They are joined by aditya roy kapur, who plays Arya's boyfriend, in their journey. A self-styled godman, played by makarand deshpande, is after Arya's life. trailer looks interesting and the performances of all the actors seem appealing. makarand deshpande is unrecognisable as the godman.

While the trailer of Sadak 2 was released on august 12, on tuesday, sanjay dutt revealed that he has been suffering from stage 3 lung cancer. Taking to social media, Dutt informed that he will be taking a break from work for his treatment. He wrote, "Hi friends, I am taking a short break from work for some medical treatment. My family and friends are with me and I urge my well-wishers not to worry or unnecessarily speculate. With your love and good wishes, I will be back soon! (sic).”
