'Sarpatta Parambarai' story happens in the 1970s period and there is a constant rivalry between Sarpatta and Idiyaapam gangs and Rangan (Pasupathi) is from the Sarpatta clan and he trains students to stand against the Idiyaapam gang. Initially, all the boxers start to lose and Rangan has no other chance other than bringing in Kabilan (Arya) to stand against Vembuli from the Idiyaapam clan and he proves his worth in the duel.

But, Kabilan's mother has worst fears and it comes true and he understands the road to glory is not an easy one. Pa.Ranjith has scored a lot as a director this time and every character's story is completely well-written and there are lots of well-crafted scenes filled with a varied range of emotions. The Boxing elevation scenes also provide the necessary mass elements for a commercial cinema and in the end, the movie keeps us engaged until the end despite a 3-hour lengthy running time.

After director Bala, Ranjith has brought the best of arya and we can see how much he has toiled for the Kabilan character, and the transformation of him as a boxer deserves a special mention. john Vijay, Kalaiarasan, and Shabbir who essayed the role of Dancing role deserve special mention among the supporting artist roles.

The movie once again has a solid BGM score from Santosh Narayanan and with his international level score, he stands as the backbone of the Sarpatta Parambarai movie. On the flip side, the movie's second half is very slow and sluggish and it follows a tried-and-tested route, but still, this is a complete package for a punchy sports drama!
