On a shocking note, Union home Affairs Ministry has revealed that 348 Custodial deaths have happened in police custody and this data has created a huge stir among the commoners. As per data, 136 custodial deaths happened during the year 2018-19 and 542 people were tormented so badly under police custody.

When it comes to 2019-20, the custodial deaths reduced to 112 and the number of people who were tormented was 411. Finally, during the year 2020-21, the custodial deaths even decreased to 100 and the number of people who faced torture is declined to 236. On the whole, 348 deaths were reported for the past 3 years in india and so far no action has been taken on any of the Inspectors or Sub-Inspectors apart from getting suspended or transferred.

It should be noted that last year tamil Nadu police's brutal torture and revenge act killed the father and son duo and still the case is not yet received a proper judgment. The father P.Jayaraj who owns a mobile shop was tormented by stripping his clothes and he was tortured along with his son and they were beaten to death just because they never locked their shop during the lockdown timings. Jayaraj's daughter Percy is still fighting for justice.
