Vasu (Sundeep Kishan) is a failing thug whose grandfather has been depressed for a long time after being humiliated by a cruel thug. To avenge his humiliation, the grandfather has given up on his useless grandson. But there comes a time when Vasu is forced to adopt a bloodthirsty character at the request of Sahitya (Neha Shetty), a cheerful corporate employee whose father Venkat Rao (Rajendra Prasad) is terrified of his kidnapped. To make matters worse, a tense and obviously corrupt cop (played by multi-lingual actor bobby Simha) is involved in the game.

To be sure, 'Gully Rowdy' has a lot of positive aspects. There's a grandpa-grandson subplot, a father-daughter subplot, a pivotal character who needs to make amends with a loved one, and a twist building when Vasu's dilemma resurfaces with increased ferocity when Sahitya's family falls into a trap. Despite this, none of these potential features contribute to making the film a memorable comic experience.

Rajendra prasad finally gets to play a significant role after a long period. We can't buy into the drama because his sentimentality doesn't appear genuine. The same can be said for the female lead's persona. In the later part, the numerous threads converge into a semblance of a plot, with Sundeep Kishan's character staying out of the picture for a significant length of time because even a little more of him would have been deceptive to the viewers. It's at this point that the screenwriters should have produced a clever screenplay to tease the forthcoming twist. A total mess, which is better to be missed!
