Shortly before the announcement of elections, dhananjay Singh was sentenced in a kidnapping case. After this he was sent to jail. A few days ago, he was released from jail after getting bail from the High Court. After coming out of jail, dhananjay Singh started preparing for the elections. After his release from jail, it was believed that the election of this seat was going to be interesting, but on the last day of nomination, BSP changed the entire political equation by cutting Shrikala's ticket.

Shyam Singh Yadav has been a PCS officer. After retirement, he joined BSP. He has studied till intermediate from TD college and MSc and LLB from allahabad University. He has also been the treasurer of the Rifle Association of India. He contested from Jaunpur lok sabha seat in 2019 on BSP ticket, in which he won. shyam Singh Yadav defeated bjp candidate KP Singh by a huge margin of 80936 votes.

After dhananjay Singh's wife's ticket was cut, the contest for this seat has become between SP-BJP instead of being triangular. It was believed that with Shrikala entering the fray, bjp candidate Kripa shankar was getting affected by this. bjp seems to be getting a direct benefit of Shrikala not contesting the elections, the reason behind this is that now the votes of Thakur voters will not be divided. Samajwadi party has given ticket to Babu Singh Kushwaha on this seat. Kushwaha has been a cabinet minister in mayawati government. Talking about caste equations, there are more than nineteen and a half lakh voters in Jaunpur lok sabha constituency, in which the highest number is of Brahmins. The population of Brahmins is 15.72 percent and the population of Rajputs is 13.30 percent.
