AIADMK coordinator O. Panneerselvam thanked the chief minister of tamil Nadu for assuring the minister of Higher education that the entire statue of jayalalithaa would be well maintained. Regarding this, he said, "A full-length monument of jayalalithaa, the selfless leader of tamil Nadu who dedicated her life to the betterment of tamil Nadu and its people, was constructed on the premises of the State Higher education Council on Kamaraj Road in chennai during the AIADMK administration.

The statue and its environs were kept in good condition. Since the change of government, Jayalalithaa's statue has been neglected, and the neighborhood around it has deteriorated. In light of this, I wrote to tamil Nadu's chief minister, MK stalin, on october 16, 2021, demanding that he grant permission for the daily evening wear of Jayalalithaa's statue, as well as the preservation and security of the site where the monument and statue were placed.

In response to my letter, minister of Higher education Ponmudi stated that all of the government's statues and memorials are properly maintained by the Public Works and local Bodies and that the statue of jayalalithaa will continue to be well maintained on behalf of the government in the absence of the practice of providing it to individuals and organizations. I thank MK stalin for promising to take good care of Amma statue."
