During the second batch of Covid, congress general secretary priyanka gandhi poked fun at prime minister Narendra Modi's election rallies. Her remarks were in response to the Prime Minister's claim that the congress in mumbai and the AAP administration in delhi provided migrant workers cheap tickets to depart, allowing Covid to grow quickly in Punjab, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh.

"In the first wave of Covid-19, you [Congress] issued free public transport tickets to labourers to flee mumbai," PM Modi stated earlier in the day in Parliament. At the very same period, the delhi government advised migrant labourers to depart and offered transportation for them to do so. Covid spread quickly as a result in Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand." "These were folks that he [Modi] had deserted," priyanka gandhi stated in response to the claims.

They couldn't get back home because they didn't have any means of transportation. They were on their way back on foot. Did he intend for no one to assist them? What was Modiji's goal? "What is it that he desires?" "What about his large rallies?" priyanka gandhi inquired. PM Modi remarked at an assembly election rally in Asansol, West Bengal, in april 2021, "I am pleased to see such a massive gathering." At the time, india was recording over 2 lakh Covid infections every day.
