Imran Khan sentenced For 3Years...

The pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former prime minister of pakistan, imran khan, was sentenced to three years in prison today in the Toshakhana case. Additionally, he has been declared ineligible for five years, which means he might not be allowed to run in the forthcoming elections. Khan is being transported to the prison at Kot Lakhpat. imran khan is accused of abusing his position as prime minister between 2018 and 2022 to purchase and resell items worth more than $635,000 that belonged to the state and were given to him by hosts when he travelled on official business outside of Pakistan.

Almost immediately, Khan was brought into jail, according to persons with knowledge of the situation. They added that imran khan still has the option of appealing to higher courts and that his immediate confinement is a result of his incarceration. The former Pakistani prime minister, according to reports, would contest the decision and file an appeal with higher courts.

The Nawaz Sharif camp has joyfully received the news. His successor's imprisonment, according to those close to him, is "the result of Imran Khan's corruption." The London-based Nawaz camp praised the court for giving "full justice" and emphasised that it wasn't a "one-sided decided case." According to Judge Humayun Dilawar of the Islamabad district and Sessions court, "charges of misdeclaration of assets have been proven against the PTI chairman."

The former prime minister has been ordered by the Islamabad high court (IHC) to reappear in the court of Additional Sessions Judge Humayun Dilawar. Imran and his legal team requested that the case be transferred to a another court because they believed judge Humayun Dilawar was overly biassed and hurrying the proceedings. The IHC provided some relief to Imran but did not transfer the case, asking the judge to reevaluate the jurisdiction and any procedural errors in the filing of the lawsuit by the election commission of pakistan (ECP).
