Soon after being appointed by the Congress, Chief Minister-designate and tpcc chief urged officials to take prompt and effective measures to mitigate the impact of Cyclone Michaung, which is expected to bring very heavy rain to the state on wednesday and has prompted a red alert in several districts. He emphasized that the rain might have a significant impact on low-lying regions, prompting diligent measures by officials to safeguard inhabitants' safety.

Reddy asked officials in areas like bhadradri and Khammam, where a red warning has been issued, to remain vigilant and respond fast to the developing situation. He recommended improving farmer knowledge, implementing preventative steps in forecasted high rainfall areas, maintaining safety in flood-prone areas, and conducting frequent evaluations in agency areas for an efficient response.

He also stressed the significance of assessing historic structures and constructions for the safety of citizens. Authorities were instructed to evacuate residents of susceptible properties. Cyclone Michaung has caused havoc in several districts across the state, prompting preventive measures and a red alert in some areas. Schools in bhadradri and kothagudem will be closed till december 6. The agricultural community in Jagitial is concerned as torrential rains wreak havoc on crops and cereals.

The indian Meteorological Department-Hyderabad has issued a red alert for mulugu, bhadradri kothagudem, and Khammam, suggesting heavy to very heavy rains with thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds. Suryapet, Mahbubabad, Warangal, and Hanmakonda have been placed on orange alert due to heavy rain and thunderstorms. In addition, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Nalgonda, and Jangaon are under a yellow rain warning.

Even the capital city, Hyderabad, has been issued a yellow signal, with moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds expected to continue for the next two days. The city awoke to chilly weather and drizzles, with temperatures hovering around 23°C for the majority of the day.

The aftermath of Cyclone Michaung affected aviation travel in Hyderabad. rajiv gandhi International airport (RGIA) recorded 16 cancellations as of tuesday morning, affecting both arrivals and departures. Six indigo flights are disrupted, four each from air Asia and Alliance air, and two from SpiceJet.


The chennai route received the most cancellations, with six, followed by five on the Bengaluru route, three on the tirupati route, and one each on the Trichy and Visakhapatnam routes.

A teleconference was also held involving authorities from the affected areas, as well as Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari and rahul Bojja, director of disaster management.

The discussion discussed the crucial necessity for attentive measures and seamless cooperation across rain-stricken regions. Precautionary measures and disaster management procedures are being followed, and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been sent to the districts of bhadradri kothagudem and mulugu for rescue and relief operations, according to a media announcement. Irrigation, disaster management, roads and buildings, panchayat raj, and revenue were all asked to work together smoothly to solve the changing scenario. The Special Commissioner for Information and Public Relations verified that money for disaster relief initiatives had been released.
