The party MLAs who cross-voted for the bjp in the rajya sabha elections, according to congress leader abhishek Manu Singhvi, had breakfast with them this morning. His comments came following the BJP's victory over the congress party in the state's lone rajya sabha seat, which ended in a draw of lots that broke the 34-34 deadlock between the two parties.

An irate abhishek Manu Singhvi addressed the media following the declaration of the rajya sabha election results, saying, "They have taught us a lot since they (the congress MLAs who cross-voted) supped with us till 11 pm last night and three of them had breakfast with us. Therefore, I believe that while they are unquestionably greater judges of human nature than we are."

Even though abhishek Manu Singhvi had the backing of three Independents and 40 out of 68 MLAs for the congress, bjp candidate Harsh Mahajan won the election.

After both candidates received 34 votes apiece, Mahajan was proclaimed the winner by lot.

Nine MLAs—six from the congress and three independents—clearly supported the bjp based on the results. In the 68-member himachal pradesh Assembly, the congress currently has 40 MLAs, the bjp has 25, and three are independents.

In the meanwhile, following congress MLAs' cross-voting for the bjp candidate, leader of the Opposition Jairam Thakur called for the resignation of himachal pradesh Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.
