Google Doodle celebrates Nowruz-Persian New Year!!!

To celebrate Nowruz, the Persian New Year, Google's homepage featured a colorful and lively Doodle on march 19, 2024. An ancient Iranian holiday known as Nowruz, which translates to "new day" in Persian, is observed on the vernal equinox, which heralds the arrival of spring. Earth's axis is not inclined toward nor away from the sun during the vernal equinox. At every latitude, the earth's symmetrical position results in about equal amounts of daylight and darkness. In addition, it heralds the start of spring, a season of natural rebirth and renewal in the Northern Hemisphere.

Persian culture was represented in the Doodle's elaborate design, which featured traditional calligraphy, vibrant flower designs, and iconic objects like the Haft-sin table. The seven objects on this table, which begin with the Persian letter "sin," stand for ideas like prosperity, health, and rebirth.

History of Nowruz

Since its inception in ancient Persia (modern-day Iran), Nowruz has been observed for almost 3,000 years, extending to neighboring nations such as Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, and Turkey. It is acknowledged by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural heritage of Humanity and has its roots in the rich cultural legacy of the Iranian plateau. The day is observed with a variety of customs, such as cleaning up springtime debris, spending time with loved ones, exchanging gifts, and savoring regional specialties like fish and sabzi polo. Families decorate the Haft-sin table with symbolic things like apples, garlic, sprouts, and vinegar as part of the Haft-sin ceremony.

Beyond religious and cultural barriers, Nowruz is a time for rebirth, hope, and unity. Google's Doodle is a charming reminder of the ongoing history of this ancient festival as it welcomes the new year to the world. It eventually extended to other nations bordering the Silk Road trading routes. people from all different races and religions celebrate it now throughout Central Asia, the Middle East, and even certain areas of the Balkans.
