Just hours after the delhi High court dismissed the Congress's appeals against the tax reassessment process, the Income Tax Department sent the party with a notice for Rs 1,700 crore. Congressman vivek Tankha verified the development. Penalty and interest were included in the notice that was delivered for the assessment years 2017–18 and 2020–21.

The congress filed petitions on thursday contesting the tax authorities' start of a four-year tax reassessment against it, but the delhi High court denied their requests.

The pleas were denied, according to a bench of Justices Yashwant varma and Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav, in accordance with their earlier judgement to not impede the reassessment's opening for a further year.

The evaluation years 2017 through 2021 are relevant to the current issue.

In the previous appeal that was denied last week, the congress party contested the start of the re-evaluation process for the assessment years 2014–15 through 2016–17.

The delhi High court dismissed the congress party's appeals against tax reassessment, and the Income Tax Department responded with a notice of Rs 1,700 crore. Congress's pleadings against tax reassessment were denied by the court the day before. This is a setback indeed
