It sounds awesome when saif ali khan and priyadarshan collaborate.  But hold on, is this simply another Oppam?  Saif Ali Khan has said that he will be playing a blind man in a thriller in his upcoming film, Priyadarshan.  Blind duty for the first time.  Working with the director for the first time.  Does that seem like a new beginning?  Perhaps not.

It is rumored to be a remake of the 2016 malayalam blockbuster Oppam.  Have we not previously viewed this movie on OTT and YouTube?  Mohanlal's Oppam was a huge smash, earning ₹65 crore at the box office, receiving excellent reviews, and even being dubbed into telugu (Kanupapa) and hindi (Prime Witness).

In actuality, the majority of fans have already seen it because it is so publicly accessible.  So, for whom is the remake intended?  Remakes like Shehzada have already been seen.  Furthermore, not every remake can be a Drishyam, let's face it.  What a legend priyadarshan is.  Saif's edgy roles are well-known.

Why be cautious, then?  If this ends as being a frame-by-frame Oppam remake, it's déjà vu rather than creativity.  Mohanlal infused the original with unadulterated passion and grounded feelings.  Is Saif able to duplicate that?  Or will it seem like a diluted, Bollywood-shined version?  Everyone already watches telugu, Tamil, and malayalam movies with subtitles in the OTT era.
