Karthik Subbaraj's Retro, which is scheduled for a global cinema release on May 1st, marks Suriya's comeback after the devastating failure of Kanguva. Sasi Kumar's Tourist Family, which was directed by Abishan Jeevinth, is also slated to be released on the same day. Tourist Family is a low-budget film, but after a strong teaser, it has created some talk among viewers.

Now, some kollywood industry insiders who have seen Tourist Family have expressed positive feelings, and the film has a good possibility of being a huge smash.  Following this, some industry insiders have forecast that Suriya's Retro will surely pick up a significant number of screens during its first weekend of operation.  Tourist Family, on the other hand, has a fantastic chance to take over numerous single screens starting in the second week if Retro gets a bad reception.

Additionally, Tourist Family has a little advantage in appealing to family viewers because it is a family entertainer, whereas Retro is a love-action-drama genre.  The audience has high hopes for Retro, though, and it is unclear if those expectations will be met and the film becomes a big success or if Tourist Family will take over Retro's screens the second weekend after its release.
