Following Madha Gaja Raja's popularity, sundar c is making a comeback with Gangers, which will be released in theaters all over the world today and stars him and Vadivelu in the key parts.  Press and media representatives who attended the special premiere screening of Gangers yesterday in chennai posted overwhelmingly enthusiastic comments on social media. The movie which got released has opened to positive word of mouth.

Throughout the day, "Gangers," which combines comedy and crime in Sundar C's own way, had an overall tamil occupancy percentage of 13.62%.  Chennai had the highest occupancy rate among the main cities, at 18.50% overall, reaching a peak of 23% during the night shows.  Bengaluru and coimbatore had respective occupancy rates of 7.25% and 12.5%, while madurai came in second with 16%. 

The movie did marginally better at night and in the evening, especially in chennai and madurai, which may indicate that word-of-mouth helped attract audiences later in the day.  In tamil Nadu, night shows had the greatest occupancy rate of any show time slot, at 17.39%.  With 331 showings in chennai alone and more than 250 in Bengaluru, the movie had a pretty widespread release.  But maintaining this momentum will mostly rely on weekend attendance as well as the movie's ability to appeal to family viewers and fans of sundar c and Vadivelu's comedic timing.
