Retired Brigadier Vijay Sagar reacted to the pahalgam terror attack, the United Nations Security Council meeting and the Indus Water Treaty in a conversation with news agency IANS on (May 6, 2025). On the instructions of the home Ministry to all the states to conduct mock drills, retired Brigadier Vijay Sagar said that after the pahalgam terror attack on april 22, the tension between india and Pakistan has increased significantly. The possibility of a full-fledged war cannot be ruled out.
He said, 'In case of war, both sides are likely to engage in aggressive actions including air strikes or missile attacks. Any attack on civilian areas of any country will inevitably lead to heavy loss of life and property. The purpose behind conducting mock drills is to know how to reduce this loss, how to be prepared during war and how to defend because, in a war between two countries, not only the army of the country fights, our people also fight.'
On the meeting of the United Nations Security Council, retired Brigadier Vijay Sagar said that Pakistan is under tension ever since the way the indian government took five important decisions after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. He said that threats are being given from Pakistan's side but, the way the indian government has clarified its stand, pakistan has also understood that its threats are not going to work. No matter which meeting it goes to, no one is going to support it.
Retired Brigadier Vijay Sagar said that pakistan is now isolated. On the suspension of Indus Water Treaty, he said that pakistan has got a befitting reply from this too. We will stop the water. Our army will target those in pakistan who are the originators of terrorism, who conspire against India. This includes Pakistan's ISI or the army Chief. The indian army will regularly take action against them step by step.
