Tom Cruise devotes all of his energy to Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning after working on the film for almost 30 years. The last movie star and the man behind the franchise's direction, who more than anything wants to give us a wonderful show, is the last person I would expect to do anything less. Despite being a tom Cruise production, the movie honors the fans, who have contributed just as much to its success. Even if the jokes are cheesy, The Final Reckoning is a project that will make you laugh, by and for moviegoers. Even a seasoned crew like Cruise and director Christopher McQuarrie are not immune to the unprecedented strain and expectations surrounding The Final Reckoning. Even though Every Mission: Impossible is jam-packed, The Final Reckoning tries to fit in as many heart-wrenching moments as possible. The Final Reckoning, a nostalgic victory lap for Cruise that may be his most ambitious star vehicle to date, flags a little in the beginning and is occasionally overly ambitious in its world-trotting journey. However, the movie cannot be stopped once we reach the core of the plot. Our protagonist, Ethan Hunt, usually goes off on his own at some point in Mission: Impossible. The Final Reckoning, however, highlights the importance of Hunt's decisions and deeds on his own. The thematic tension that accompanies the memorable set pieces is created by interrogating the inherent tension of Ethan's incapacity to sacrifice the few for the many. Even if we don't watch the series films to be moralized, The Final Reckoning transports us to a world where the good people might ultimately prevail. The Final Reckoning never feigns to be anything other than a heartfelt homage to the franchise, despite its startlingly high amount of references to the original movies. Even in the face of tremendous challenges, Ethan is a true hero despite the emotional throughline that forces him to confront his past mistakes and flaws. The Final Reckoning has the challenging task of showcasing something we've never seen from Ethan or his team previously because we've seen him tested numerous times, taking physically startling risks. Thankfully, The Final Reckoning made a better decision by incorporating and improving upon several of our favorite stunts from the movies. It's a smart strategy to keep things fresh and successfully relive the memorable scenes that have contributed to Mission: Impossible's success. I could talk endlessly about Cruise's stunt work, but he's not the only one involved. Along with well-known actors Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames, Hayley Atwell makes a fitting companion for Hunt in the role of Grace. Hannah Waddingham and Tramell Tillman, two recent arrivals, provide a reminder of the cause Ethan is fighting for. The Final Reckoning undoubtedly suffers from a drop in suspense, and Dead Reckoning—possibly the best film in the series aside from Ghost Protocol—was a difficult act to follow. While the conclusion must, in a sense, land the plane, the last film enjoys the luxury of being rife with mystery and intrigue. Furthermore, the Entity's strength and influence increased, but the AI was mostly left out of the narrative. In The Final Reckoning, its threats are more hypothetical than real, but in Dead Reckoning, it was penetrating every nook and cranny. I like my action movies to be humorous, and The Final Reckoning is one of those. Cruise never wastes time winking at the audience, and it's not overtly humorous. It's completely genuine, sharing a chuckle with the audience and revealing that the directors are aware of the joke without detracting from the plot. Using the expertly composed soundtrack, effects, and immersive style, The Final Reckoning throws us right back into the thick of things. If the purpose of films is to introduce us to a different world, then the film succeeds in doing so. No matter how you feel about the series, I would encourage everyone to go to the theater, sit back, and have fun. watch it preferably on IMAX.
