‘Thug Life’ is a film directed by mani ratnam and starring Kamal Haasan, simbu, Trisha, Abhirami, aishwarya Lakshmi, ashok Selvan, and others. It was made in 5 languages - tamil, Telugu, kannada, Malayalam, Hindi. Due to the controversy surrounding the kannada language version released in other languages on june 5th, it was not released in karnataka alone. Released in four other languages, the film has been facing negative reviews since the first day. While the advance booking for the film was good, the reception was not as expected in the following days. Due to this, the team of ‘Thak Life’ has faced a huge disappointment. The team had been traveling to several states for the film’s promotion two weeks before its release. They were also actively involved in promotional activities in tamil Nadu, including promotional events, press conferences, and interviews.
‘Thug Life’ takes a big dip at the box office. Do you know how much it is? The songs of the film were hits, the kannada language controversy, the inclusion of Joju George in the film for kerala fans, the inclusion of silambarasan in the film to attract the youth, and the song Jingucha became a hit, which created huge expectations on social media. However, the film ultimately failed miserably. After 38 years, Kamal was directed by mani ratnam, and there was huge expectation among the fans. Moreover, the fans, for their part, increased the expectations by posting posts on social media that the film would be world-class.

But when the film was released, the fans were disappointed to see that it was not as good as they had imagined and had a very bad screenplay. The film ‘Thug Life’ also faced severe criticism on social media. This is seen as the reason for the film’s decline in collection. At a time when even films made with small budgets and no major advertising are receiving a huge response from the public, the film’s collection has taken a big hit due to the lack of a good screenplay despite a high budget, a huge star cast, and an investment of crores.

Based on the websites that publish box office collection status, the film ‘Thug Life’ has collected Rs.15.5 crore on the first day, Rs.7.15 crore on the second day, Rs.7.75 crore on the third day, Rs.6.5 crore on the fourth day, and Rs.3.25 crore on the fifth day. It is said that it has collected only about Rs.40 crore in India. This is much less than the collection of ‘Indian 2’. While the collection status is being released on the first day, the team of ‘Thug Life’ is maintaining silence. It is clear that star status, directorial status, cast list, and huge budgets are no longer important in tamil cinema. Directors should at least understand that fans will come to watch the film only if the screenplay is good.
