'Mohammad Yunus is getting target killings done in jail'

The Awami League has alleged that their workers are being targeted in jail, which is not rightThe party directly held the interim government led by Mohammad Yunus responsible for this and condemned this act in strong words.

The Awami League said in a statement, "The mysterious deaths of bangladesh Awami League activists in different jails across the country have sparked outrage and concern. Political analysts and rights groups say these are not isolated incidents but are part of a well-organised, covert campaign led by the Yunus-affiliated shadow authority aimed at breaking the backbone of pro-liberation politics through fear, torture and elimination."

'Awami League leaders poisoned'

According to the party statement, "Eyewitnesses and leaked reports have alleged medical negligence and deliberate failure to provide timely medical care. Which led to deaths, forceful poisoning or chemically induced heart attacks. They were kept in solitary confinement and also subjected to physical torture of Awami League activists. These developments point to a covert campaign to crush the strength of the party, that too the party which played a role in liberating the country."

21 Awami League leaders died

Meanwhile, on monday (9 june 2025), the Awami League raised the issue of its leader ali Asghar's death sentence in jail. The statement said, "The killing of ali Asghar exposes the cruelty of the Yunus regime. Prisons under the Yunus regime have become torture chambers, where Awami League leaders are being eliminated. In a statement last month, the Awami League revealed that at least 21 Awami League members have died in custody since Yunus came to power.
