A case has come to light of cyber-cheating an 18-year-old actress studying engineering in Panvel on the pretext of getting her work in a web series and then blackmailing her by sending her morphed obscene pictures. Based on the complaint of the victim, a case has been registered against 4 accused in DN nagar police station and investigation has been started.
police said that the victim received a message on whatsapp on june 11, in which the sender introduced himself as a producer associated with a well-known production company and offered her a chance to act in a web series. The names of the director and other actors were also mentioned to win her trust. Falling into the trap, the actress shared her portfolio, instagram profile and YouTube link.
Rs 40,000 demanded by sending a morphed picture
After this, the accused kept in touch with her and got her to meet another youth, who was said to be cast with her in the same project. To add credibility to the talks, a total of Rs 7,836 was transferred from the actress in the name of flight ticket and agreement through google pay and india Post Payments Bank.
Not only this, once she was called to Metro Inox theater and shown a movie and then left in Andheri. The actress further told in her statement that when she refused to meet again, the accused sent her morphed obscene picture and demanded Rs 40,000. If the money is not given, the picture was threatened to be made viral on her family and social media.
