The Dalai Lama has entrusted the responsibility of selecting the successor to the Gaden Phodrang Trust. He also clarified that the Dalai Lama institution will continue in the future as well. In his official statement, he mentioned the promise made in 2011. He said that in a meeting on 24 september 2011, this issue was raised that the institution should continue further.

Reminding himself of his own words, the Dalai Lama said, "When I will be around 90 years old, I will consult the high lamas of the Tibetan Buddhist traditions, the Tibetan people and other concerned people who follow Tibetan Buddhism, so that it can be considered whether the institution of the Dalai Lama should continue or not."

China may get upset after the statement of the Dalai Lama
