Yes! Superman is a triumph for the new DC Universe. It’s a comic book brought to beautiful live-action life, brimming with hope & fulfillment. It actually elicited tears of joy from me. It doesn't get more Superman than this.

Superman's humanity and his determination to do good and improve the world are the film's main themes, despite its plenty of thrilling action sequences and strategically placed humor and levity.  That ambition becomes all-consuming and incredibly motivating because of David Corenswet's contagious warmth and resolve.  Gunn and company don't hold back from examining the difficulties one may face when attempting to navigate our reality while adhering to those fundamental principles, which strengthens that element of the film even more.

The way that Corenswet and rachel Brosnahan push each other to grow is one of my favorite aspects of their incredible relationship.  However, it also seems necessary to stress that Brosnahan is a formidable force in her own right as Lois Lane.  Although they are dependent on one another in this battle, she is not entirely defined by her work or their relationship.  She is essential to advancing the plot, has her own perspective on the world and a unique way of navigating it, and powers through this novel with genuine agency.

Other noteworthy performances include Edi Gathegi's portrayal of mister Terrific.  The character's style, technology, and Gathegi's demeanor in the part were extremely appealing.  The Engineer, starring María Gabriela de Faría, has a huge screen presence and some amazing action, but it also has just enough intricacy to keep you interested.  With less screen time than the primary actors, Anthony Carrigan's portrayal of Metamorpho is *a lot* to sell, and he accomplishes it brilliantly.  However, I wish the Daily Planet crew—aside from Clark and Lois—had had a greater influence.

Although the story framework occasionally feels a little off-balance, the individual scenes are so powerful that these snags eventually pass as minor blips on the radar.  The plot progresses and is successful in many ways, particularly when it comes to Superman realizing who he is and how he can best impact Earth.
