Pakistan
prime minister Shahbaz Sharif on
wednesday (July 23, 2025) said that his country is ready for meaningful talks with
india to resolve all pending issues. Shahbaz Sharif made this remark during a conversation with a
british High Commissioner Jane Marriott. Marriott met Shahbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister's residence. The two discussed bilateral relations as well as the regional situation in South Asia and West Asia.
Pakistan wants to talk with India
Shahbaz Sharif appreciated Britain's role in reducing tensions during the Pakistan-India standoff and reiterated that
pakistan is ready for meaningful talks with
india on all pending issues. However,
india says that it will hold any talks with
pakistan only on the issues of
terrorism and return of Pakistan-occupied
kashmir (PoK).
India responded to PAK after
pahalgam terror attack
India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 in response to the
pahalgam terror attack, under which terrorist infrastructure in areas controlled by
pakistan was targeted. After the
pahalgam terror attack,
india also suspended the Indus Water Treaty of 1960. The Indus Treaty will remain suspended until
pakistan stops supporting cross-border terrorism.
Through Operation Sindoor,
india exposed
pakistan, a shelter for terrorists, to the world. In a meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC),
india described
pakistan as steeped in fanaticism and terrorism. Terming
pakistan as a country that constantly takes loans,
india said that countries promoting cross-border
terrorism should be forced to pay a serious price.
The US has recently banned the Pakistani terrorist organization The Resistance Front (TRF). Just three days after the
pahalgam terror attack on
april 22,
india had given sufficient evidence to the US to grant TRF the status of a terrorist organisation.
