On US President Donald Trump's announcement of imposing 25 percent tariff on
indian goods, the
indian government has said that it will not take any retaliatory action against it.
india is ready to resolve this issue through talks. Only through discussion can a solution be found keeping in mind the interests of both sides.
25 percent has been imposed on
indian imports from
august 1, 2025,
trump has also signed an executive order for this.
trump has cited India's continuous
oil imports from
russia and long-standing trade barriers with the US as the main reasons behind the imposition of tariff.
What is India's stand on Trump's tariff?
India Today quoted a
government source as saying that
india will not respond to this. Keeping silent is the best answer from India. Whatever we do, we will do it on the negotiating table.
trump, in a Truth Social post, claimed that
india is considered a friend, but trade relations between the two countries have been limited, claiming that excessive tariffs and restrictive non-tariff barriers are obstacles.
Trump called the tariffs imposed by
india on US imports excessive and expressed his objection to the most stringent tariffs and non-tariff barriers than any other country. Strongly criticising India's old trade relations with
russia, the US President described both the countries as dead economies and said that he does not care what New
delhi does with Moscow. This happened when the two countries have been discussing a trade deal for months, but no final agreement has been reached.
trump is insisting on increasing the access of American goods in the
indian market.
