Stray dogs verdict: The supreme court on wednesday constituted a new bench to hear the case of removal of stray dogs in Delhi-NCR. The hearing in the case will be held on Thursday, august 14.

The supreme court has constituted a new bench of three members in the case related to stray dogs in Delhi-NCR. This three-member bench of the supreme court will hear the case tomorrow. Earlier on Dudhwar, Chief Justice of india BR Gavai on Wednesday said that he would consider the issue related to stray dogs as a lawyer claimed that the instructions issued by various benches of the supreme court are conflicting.

After this, Chief Justice BR Gavai constituted a larger bench to hear the case. According to the supreme court website, the case 'City troubled by stray dogs, children paying the price' will now be heard on august 14 by a bench of Justice vikram Nath, Justice sandeep Mehta, and Justice NV Anjaria.

A case related to stray dogs was presented for urgent hearing before the Chief Justice of india on Wednesday. The petition was filed by an organization named Conference for Human Rights (India) in 2024. It challenged the order of the delhi High court, which refused to consider their PIL seeking directions for sterilization and vaccination of stray dogs in delhi as per the Animal Birth Control (Dogs) Rules.

The lawyer then cited an order passed by a bench headed by Justice JK Maheshwari in May 2024, under which the petitions related to the issue of stray dogs were transferred to the respective High Courts. The lawyer referred to the order passed by the bench of Justice Maheshwari, in which the court had said that all we want to say is that under no circumstances can dogs be killed indiscriminately. The authorities have to act as per the existing laws and spirit. There is no doubt that showing compassion towards all living beings is a constitutional value and public sentiment. It is the responsibility of the authorities to maintain it.

Let us tell you that on august 11, a bench of Justice jb Pardiwala and Justice R mahadevan passed an order to remove all stray dogs from the streets of Delhi-NCR. After which, there was a sharp reaction among dog lovers across the country. This decision has been opposed by celebrities like rahul Gandhi, Maneka Gandhi, john Abraham, and varun Dhawan.

The supreme court took a tough stand on the problem of stray dogs and ordered Delhi-NCR to remove stray dogs from all areas within eight weeks and keep them in shelters set up by the Municipal Corporation Authority. The court had said that all areas should be freed from stray dogs and no compromise should be made.
