Overview


Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that 15 people have been arrested for posting objectionable content on social media after the delhi blasts.


The chief minister emphasized that no leniency will be shown towards those glorifying violence or supporting terror-related acts.


Details of Arrests


Nine new arrests were made on Thursday, following the six arrests reported on Wednesday.


The total number of arrests now stands at 15 individuals from different districts of Assam.

Those arrested overnight include:

Rafizul Ali (Bongaigaon)

Fariduddin Lashkar (Hailakandi)

Inamul islam (Lakhimpur)

Firoz ahmed alias Papon (Lakhimpur)

Shahil Shoman Sikdar alias Shahidul islam (Barpeta)

Rakibul sultan (Barpeta)

Naseem Akbar (Hojai)

Tasleem Ahmed (Kamrup)

Abdur Rahim Molla alias Baippy Hussain (South Salmara)


Government’s Stand


CM Sarma reiterated that those glorifying terrorism will face strict legal consequences.


He has instructed the assam Police to immediately act against individuals who welcomed or celebrated the blast online.


35 people have been identified so far for posting or sharing objectionable content.


Authorities will probe potential international links, including any connections to bangladesh or other countries.


Clarifications and Warnings


The chief minister clarified that:


Minors or individuals unaware of misuse of their devices will not be arrested.


However, those directly responsible will face action.


He revealed that many are now deleting their posts, but screenshots have been preserved as evidence.


Sarma alleged that some of these individuals were previously involved in anti-government protests in the Zubin area.


Background: The delhi Blast


On november 10 (Monday evening), a massive explosion occurred in a slow-moving car near the red Fort Metro Station.


The blast resulted in 12 deaths and several injuries.


Indian investigative agencies are currently working to uncover the terrorist network behind the attack.
