Tamil Nadu today stands as a pioneering state in the field of education due to the various welfare and reform-oriented schemes implemented by the DMK government, said Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam (TAMUMUK) President Jawahirullah.

He was speaking at the Silver Jubilee Conference of the Social Justice Students’ Movement, which was held in chennai yesterday. The event witnessed the participation of students, educationists, and social activists from across the state. Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin attended the conference as the chief guest, adding significance to the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Jawahirullah highlighted that the DMK government has consistently prioritized education as a key instrument for social transformation. He pointed out that initiatives such as free education schemes, student welfare programs, hostels, scholarships, free textbooks, laptops, and the breakfast scheme for school children have significantly improved enrollment rates and reduced dropout levels.

He further stated that these policies have particularly benefited students from marginalized and economically weaker sections, enabling them to pursue higher education with confidence. “Education is no longer a privilege but a right ensured by the government,” he said, crediting the DMK leadership for its inclusive vision.

He emphasized that the state administration would continue to introduce progressive policies to nurture young talent and empower students to compete at national and global levels.

Several speakers at the conference recalled the historical role of the Dravidian movement in shaping tamil Nadu’s education system and urged students to uphold the values of equality, rationalism, and social justice.

The conference concluded with a call to strengthen student movements and work collectively towards building an educated, equitable, and progressive tamil Nadu.
