Senior communist party of india (CPI) leader R. Nallakannu, who passed away today at the age of 101, will be accorded full state honours by the government of tamil Nadu, chief minister M.K. Stalin has announced.

Passing of a Veteran Leader

Comrade Nallakannu, one of the most respected senior leaders of the cpi and a long‑time advocate for workers’ and farmers’ rights, died this afternoon at 1:55 PM at Rajiv Gandhi government General Hospital in Chennai. He had been receiving treatment for age‑related health issues.

State Honours Announcement

In a statement released today, Chief minister M.K. Stalin expressed deep sorrow over Nallakannu’s passing and confirmed that the late leader will be given full state honours as a mark of respect for his contributions to public life and political service.

The chief minister noted that Nallakannu’s life and work reflected principles of courage, public service, and dedication to social justice, and that the state honours will recognise his lifelong commitment to the people of tamil Nadu.
