Audiences who perceive The kerala Story as a confirmation of their anxieties and insecurities have been quite up in arms over it. Whether the information is correct or incorrect is debatable, but the performances and production values are far from great. However, the audience that enjoys such material gives little thought to the film's quality and flocks in large numbers to theatres. On its opening day, the movie made Rs 8 crore. On its second day, it made Rs 11 crore, and on Sunday, it made roughly Rs 15 crore.

Because theatre owners fear vandalism, the movie has recently stopped playing in kerala and several areas of tamil Nadu. On the other hand, in BJP-run states like Madhya Pradesh, the government is urging even young females and little children to see this movie at a theatre. The censor board awarded the movie an A certificate despite its graphic violence, rape, and murder scenes.

The government's request that kids see this movie because it advances their mission is nothing less than a joke. The kerala Story is now tax-free in several areas (read: states where the bjp is in power), which is expected to increase sales even further. The movie is getting closer to becoming a smash hit.
