Legendary director of malayalam films KG George has passed away. He was 77 years old. He breathed his last at his home in Kakkanad on Sunday. According to reports, he was undergoing treatment for a stroke. He left his wife Salma George behind. He made his invaluable contribution to the malayalam film industry from the 1970s to the 1990s. For his contribution he was awarded the highest honor by the government of Kerala. C. Daniel Award was given. On 24 May 1946 K. G. George was born in Tiruvalla. His full name was Kulakkattil Geevargis George. K. G George received a diploma from the Film and television Institute of india (FTII), pune and began his career as an assistant to director Ramu Karyat. As director K. G. George's first film 'Swapandanam' was released in 1975 and won the National Award for Best Feature Film in malayalam Cinema. Not only this, the film was also awarded the title of Best Film during the kerala State Film Awards.

Throughout his career, he acted in around 22 films, for which 9 of them won the Best Film Award at the kerala State Film Awards. K. G. George Ne Bharatan and P. Along with Padmarajan, he founded a new school of film making in malayalam cinema. He was also the founder and chairman of the malayalam Cine Technicians Association (MACTA). He was also the Chairman of kerala State Film Development Corporation.
