This Christmas, not only big films like Shah Rukh Khan's Dinky and Prabhas' Salaar were released. Another big film was released with them which has earned more than these two worldwide. However, despite such excellent earnings, the film is being considered unsuccessful. We are talking about the hollywood film 'Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom'. This film was made with a budget equal to the total earnings of Salaar, Donkey and Animal.
The total budget of this film was as much as what Donkey, Animal and Salar together have earned worldwide. The total budget of the film was around Rs 200 million i.e. around Rs 1700 crore. At the same time, according to Sacknilk, Dunky has earned more than Rs 444 crore worldwide. Animal has touched around Rs 900 crore and Salar has touched the figure of around Rs 600 crore. Now if we talk about Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, then according to box office Mojo, this film has earned Rs 334 million worldwide. That is, if we convert it into rupees then this earning reaches above Rs 2700 crores. If we add the total income of the three films Donkey, Animal and Salaar, then it is around Rs 1900 crore. Meaning, the total earnings of all three is equal to the budget of the second part of Aquaman.
Why is a business worth more than Rs 2700 crore still considered a failure?
Despite doing such a good business, it is being considered unsuccessful. There are many reasons for this. The first reason is that this is a film of DC's extended universe DCEU. The same DCEU that DC had created in competition with its competitor Marvel's Extended Universe MCU. Where MCU projects like Avengers, iron Man, and films like Spiderman, Ant-Man created a stir across the world and proved to be very beneficial for Marvel. Whereas most of the DCEU films like Batman vs Superman, Justice League and The Flash did not get the same love from the audience. In such a situation, there were many expectations from this film. The first part of this film had earned 1 billion dollars worldwide. Therefore, it was expected from this film that the sinking DC Universe would get support from this film, but this hope is not visible from its earning of 334 million dollars.
