Rekha had revealed in an old interview that during the trial show of 'Muqaddar Ka Sikandar', Jaya had cried after seeing the love scenes between her and Amitabh.
Muqaddar Ka Sikandar
During the 1970s, rumours of an affair between amitabh bachchan and rekha - one of the most popular on-screen couples in bollywood - were rife. Their sizzling chemistry rocked the silver screen. However, when rumours of Amitabh's affair with rekha were rife, Big B remained silent. On the other hand, rekha spoke openly about it. One of the most dramatic and emotional moments in this story came during the release of the 1978 blockbuster, 'Muqaddar Ka Sikandar'. The film not only made headlines for its story, but it also made Amitabh's wife and actress jaya bachchan cry.
Jaya rekha cried after watching Rekha-Amitabh's love scenes, and told the story of the trial show of 'Muqaddar Ka Sikandar'. In an interview with Stardust magazine, she revealed that she had seen the Bachchan family during the trial show from the projection room.
She recalled, "Once, I was watching the entire (Bachchan) family from the projection room when they came to watch a trial show of 'Muqaddar Ka Sikandar'. Jaya was sitting in the front row, and he (Amitabh) and his parents were in the row behind her. They couldn't see her as clearly as I could. And during our love scenes, I saw tears rolling down their faces."
No more films together
Just a week after that emotional screening, rekha said she heard whispers in the industry, whispers that amitabh had made a big decision about his work. "A week later, everyone in the industry was telling me that he had made it clear to his makers that he was not going to work with me," rekha told Stardust. This came as a shock to many. Amitabh and rekha had given several hits together, and their pairing was loved by the audience. But after 'Muqaddar Ka Sikandar', they did not appear together again until 1981's 'Silsila', a film that reflected the rumours revolving around their personal life.
