The US President remembered the tense environment that had been created a year prior when it was thought that a Russian onslaught may soon capture the capital of Ukraine.

'We are together to drive out the Russian army'

For several days there was speculation that Biden would visit Kyiv around february 24, the anniversary of the Russian attack.

However, the white house has repeatedly stated that there are no plans for a presidential visit to Ukraine. As president, Biden is making his first trip to a war-torn region.
