Amid rising tensions between india and Pakistan, airlines have been instructed to reroute flights till May 14 and avoid specific existing flight routes between delhi and Mumbai, India's main trunk route for domestic air travel.

The directive follows Pakistan's recent wave of drone attacks that targeted 26 locations for the second night in a row, ranging from gujarat to Jammu and Kashmir. The defense ministry reported that the enemy's attempts to strike critical installations, such as air bases and airports, were successfully thwarted.

32 airports in northern and western india will be temporarily closed to all civil aviation operations, according to a series of Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) issued by the Airports Authority of india (AAI).  At least 24 airports had previously been told to stop accepting civilian aircraft until May 10.

Due to operational considerations, the closure would take place from "May 9, 2025, to May 14, 2025 (which corresponds to 0529 IST on 15th May 2025)," according to a statement from the aviation regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

To maintain safety and minimize inconvenience, the regulator stated that the temporary shutdown is being managed in collaboration with pertinent ATC units.
