The raj bhavan made it clear on tuesday that telangana governor tamilisai soundararajan was not invited, notwithstanding the ongoing controversy over her absence from the opening of the newly built state Secretariat. No invitation was extended to the governor for the sunday event, according to raj Bhavan. The Governor's administration further refuted claims made by a state minister that the Soundararajan did not show up for the inaugural ceremony despite receiving an invitation.

In a statement, raj bhavan stated that the Governor's absence from the programme was due to lack of an invitation, and that there was no other explanation. In the presence of ministers, MPs, state lawmakers, BRS leaders, and top officials, chief minister K. chandrasekhar Rao opened the secretariat on Sunday. A day after criticising the governor for missing the inauguration ceremony, Energy minister G. jagadish reddy issued an explanation from raj Bhavan. He also criticised Opposition leaders for declining invites from the state administration to the occasion. The minister continued by claiming that the opposition leaders boycotted the ceremony because they couldn't process Telangana's development.

He said that the state administration followed protocol and offered invitations to the governor, MPs, MLAs, and MLCs of all parties in the state because the inauguration ceremony was an official programme. He claimed that Telangana's dignity and self-respect are symbolised by the secretariat building and that chief minister KCR, who erected the architectural wonder, will be known in history forever. The governor had already been disregarded by the state government by not being invited to the april 14 unveiling of the 125-foot statue of B.R. Ambedkar near the Secretariat. Soundararajan had then expressed her regret to news outlets.
