The hyderabad municipal traffic police are now conducting checks between midnight and three in the morning in an effort to reduce traffic accidents involving intoxicated drivers that are reported after midnight. According to Additional Commissioner of police (Traffic) G Sudheer Babu, the traffic police stations were instructed to perform regular checks between 12 am and 3 am following reports of late-night traffic accidents. Special teams are locating and checking the high-risk areas that have a history of traffic accidents, particularly those involving intoxicated drivers.
An inspector or a sub-inspector is in charge of the special teams. All individuals found are taken into custody and brought before the court. The message is clear—the traffic police are on duty around the clock, and individuals shouldn't think they can get away with driving after midnight, according to G Sudheer Babu.The presence of hotels, bars, and pubs in certain areas of the city has resulted in a high volume of inebriated drivers, according to the traffic police. "The entire process of checking for drunk driving is videotaped in order to refute claims made by individuals who are caught. people have occasionally been caught acting inappropriately around traffic police officers. The local law and order police stations have been able to book them under the proper cases, he claimed.

The hyderabad traffic police have detained 13,431 people for driving while intoxicated so far this year, put to jail 1317 of them, and suspended the licences of 243 more. Following court decisions, 53 people had their licences permanently revoked by the road transport authorities. The total fine levied on those who were arrested for drunk driving was Rs 3,21,39,060. Those who are apprehended are required to participate in counselling sessions at the Traffic Training Institute in Goshamahal and Begumpet.
