PM Modi gets Fiji's highest civilian award, honored for global leadership

Prime minister Narendra Modi participated in the 3rd Summit of the Forum for India-Pacific Islands Co-operation (FIPIC). After this, he met the leaders of many countries. Seeing the threat of China, PM Modi met the leaders of Pacific countries


Prime minister Narendra Modi arrived in Papua New guinea on sunday after attending the G-7 and Quad meetings in Japan. Here he attended the 3rd Summit of the Forum for India-Pacific Islands Co-operation (FIPIC). After the meeting, PM Modi has taken another step towards friendship by meeting the leaders of many countries of the Pacific region. For these steps of india as a global leader, the prime minister of Papua New guinea and fiji conferred PM Modi with their country's highest honor - 'Companion of the Order of Fiji'. Only a few non-Fijians have ever been given this honor in the world.


Papua New guinea honored prime minister Narendra Modi with 'Companion of the Order of Logohu' for the unity of the Pacific island nation and leadership of the Global South. Very few non-residents of Papua New guinea have received the award.

On the other hand, the President of the Pacific Island country Republic of Palau, Surangel S. Whips junior honored PM Modi with the Abakal Award. This meeting of the two leaders took place on the sidelines of the FIPIC summit.


 Significantly, on sunday, PM Modi first reached the APEC House, where he was received by james Marape, the prime minister of Papua New Guinea.

At the same time, PM Modi also met Governor-General Sir Bob Dade. During this, both the leaders underlined the importance of a development partnership between India-Papua New guinea relations.


On this occasion, prime minister Narendra Modi released the Tok Pisin translation of the book 'Thirukkural' in Papua New Guinea. He also had a wonderful meeting with the solomon islands prime minister Manasseh Sogavare on the sidelines of the FIPIC summit. In Papua New guinea, PM Modi discussed with PM Fiamae Naomi Matafa of samoa ways to boost bilateral ties.
