It may sound unusual but then Megastar Chiranjeevi commands a large fan following in Karnataka and now sources say that Congress is reportedly planning to field Chiru for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in April from Karnataka.
It is being said that Congress leadership has chosen Chikballapur in Bangalore rural district which also has a sizeable number of Telugu people and hardcore fan base of Chiranjeevi. Congress leadership is of the opinion that his presence will boost the party's prospects in Bangalore suburbs.
This would mean that there will be a direct fight with Deve Gowda's JD(U). However critics of Chiru say that he has no base left in AP and hence is testing his fortunes from Karnataka and also say that though he may lose even there, he is anyway safe with his Rajya Sabha seat.
Some are also trying to understand if Sonia and her team is banking on the cine glamour of Chiranjeevi to make things happen. If he would contest from Karnataka then will he take part in canvassing in Andhra Pradesh on behalf of Congress is also another question.
