The innovative Akshara jyothi project, launched by the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA)-Utnoor to boost the academic performance of slow learners, is quickly producing the intended outcomes. After taking examinations administered as part of the campaign, students demonstrated impressive growth in the fields of mathematics, telugu, and English.
In september 2022, agency officials launched a project to improve the academic performance of tribal pupils who are falling behind in mathematics, telugu, and English. 34,819 pupils are enrolled in the initiative's 133 Ashram schools, which are run by the tribal welfare department. Testing was done after grouping the pupils according to the programme.

Based on their learning levels, the pupils were first divided into four groups: A, B, C, and D. Then, tests in mathematics, telugu, and english for Class 2 were given to students in Grades 3, 4, and 5. The pupils in Grades 6, 7, 8, and 9 similarly showed up for the exams in the three topics from Class 5. Each test ended with the announcement of the results.

According to the statistics, pupils who scored an A in the main part improved their telugu language acquisition by 39% when compared to the 8% registered in the pre-test. students in the primary B group increased their english skills by 40% compared to just 18%. In comparison to that 4%, students in the secondary division of the A category made a 27 percent improvement in their mathematical skills.

The students had previously been given books for reading and study. They were also handed worksheets. Before the scheme began, special grade teachers and school assistants who worked in the schools received training. In the agency's eight divisions, subject clubs were established to make sure students were well-prepared for exams. The clubs' members met on a regular basis, and the relevant officials handled their problems.

A mela was organised in the meanwhile to raise teachers' understanding of the use of teaching and learning materials (TLM). Every day, without fail, the teachers were required to bring TLM kits to class. The learning levels of the pupils were evaluated using three different test types: baseline, midline, and end line assessments. After the end-of-test evaluation, students showed a significant improvement.
